A tulwar from Afghanistan / North-West Frontier
A talwar sword from India / Pakistan / Afghanistan. The blade is well-made and has a thick spine with a yelman-like false edge. It may very well be older than the hilt it's associated with.
Although this tulwar seems to have lost its pommel disk, it is more likely that it was intentionally removed, as the finial has been beaten flat for example. Afghans were known to have removed the pommel disks from their swords to better accommodate their fighting style. The fact that this talwar is riveted through the quillon block (or "chowk") supports this idea, as this type of hilt attachment is typical of tulwars and pulwars from Afghanistan and the regions bordering it.
