An Afghan Choora
A Choora (or "Chura") dagger from the Afghan-Pakistan border region, the location of the famous Khyber Pass. These daggers are generally associated with the Mahsud tribe of South Waziristan, and seem to represent a local variation on the Persian pesh kabz dagger.
This example has a very thick and heavy blade with the traditional "T-back" profile optimized for thrusting. The blade is in good condition, albeit with some pitting. The hilt is made of bone with a pommel comprised of two pieces of black horn. The piece of horn on the left of the pommel is cracked around a pin, but is still relatively securely attached. The embossed covering on the scabbard is intact, but the bottom section is loose and will have to be re-glued.
