A twistcore Alamang from Sulawesi, Indonesia
An Alamang sword of the Bugis and Makassarese people from Sulawesi (formerly Celebes) in Indonesia. The blade has a beautiful pamor with deep topographic etching highlighting the twistcore pattern forging of the blade. This is a much more dramatic and striking blade pattern than is commonly seen on these weapons.
The dark horn hilt has been repaired at some point but the entire assembly is tight and secure. There are traces of an inscription on the handle; possibly "Sud Aaodipo" (The initial letter on the second word is unclear.).
Blade length: 51.5 cm
Overall length: 72 cm
