An Ottoman hancer/khanjar - SOLD

An Ottoman khanjar or "hancer" dagger of typically slender form.
 
The blade on this example shows feint traces of what might be wootz patterning, and the gold koftgari decoration at the base of the blade is still largely intact. There is some slight pitting and other signs of use, but the blade is otherwise in very good condition and appears to still be in its original etch.
 
The ebony hilt has an age-related crack on either side and scuff mark near the pommel on one side of the hilt. The pommel cap is also missing, but otherwise the entire assembly is solid. The scabbard is missing, unfortunately.
 
Overall, an understated, and rather elegant dagger.
