An Ethiopian shotel - SOLD

Blade length: 63.5cm

Overall length: 74.5cm

Early 20th, possibly late 19th century

A double-edged shotel sword from Ethiopia in its rawhide scabbard. The forward-curving blade has two fullers running down its length and appears to have been forged from an  old file or rasp. The handle is made of wood with a patterned brass pommel cap. Cracks in the handle have been filled in at some point in the past and the entire assembly is solid and secure.
