A vintage Indian tulwar

Blade length: 73.5cm

Overall length: 85cm

Early 20th century

A nice vintage talwar sword from India in a leather-covered wooden scabbard. The overall appearance and lack of wear on the blade would rule out a 19th century origin. However, the fact that the hilt is made of iron instead of brass, and that the blade doesn't narrow at the tip with a false edge, suggests that it was probably made in the early 20th century, rather than being a more recent tourist piece.

What is particularly nice about it, is that the hilt is actually quite sizeable for a tulwar. So it could comfortably be used for martial arts training or even cutting practice once it's been sharpened.
